Abstract

The Boko Haram insurgency has been negatively affecting the survival and performance of many businesses in Nigeria especially in the north-eastern part of the country. Therefore, the purpose of the current study is to analyze the level at which the Boko Haram insurgency has affected the Small and medium Scale enterprises performance indicators such as turnover, profitability, access to market and access to finance on the actual performance of SMEs. The study applied survey research instrument to collect the data. Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) path modeling was used in analyzing the data. The study also examined the content and face validity. Reliability and structural modelling were also examined. The preliminary analysis of the data reveals that the instruments are valid and reliable. Similarly, the path coefficient results showed that turnover, profitability, access to market and access to finance are positively related to business performance during the insurgency.
