Abstract

The role of mathematics tutors is crucial for students' mathematical understanding. This study aimed to enhance the practices of mathematics tutors in Ghana's Colleges of Education using a sequential explanatory research design and mixed-method analysis. A sample of 50 tutors was selected from various Colleges using purposive and systematic random sampling. Data was gathered through open-ended and Likert scale questionnaires and analyzed using thematic coding in Excel and regression analysis in SPSS. Findings revealed that teaching experience, professional development, and pedagogical training significantly boosted tutor effectiveness. However, there is a need for improvement. The study recommended workshops and in-service training to elevate the quality of mathematics education.
