Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the influence of recruitment and selection practices on organisational performance at Accra Technical University, Central Region, Ghana. A descriptive survey design and cross-sectional research were employed, utilising a quantitative approach to achieve the research objectives. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 177 respondents. SPSS Version (22) was used to process the data. Descriptive frequency and percentage and inferential statistics (correlation and regression) were used to analyse the data collected. The findings revealed that 63.3% of the variation in the University's performance could be attributed to recruitment processes, selective hiring, compensation, and training and development, demonstrating the statistically significant positive impact of these independent variables on organisational performance. The study concludes that effective recruitment practices, selective hiring, training and development, and employee compensation play a crucial role in enhancing overall performance. It is recommended that the University's Management prioritise improving recruitment and selection practices, training programs, and employee incentives, as these factors significantly contribute to better organisational outcomes.
