Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of using maggot meal as a substitute for fish meal in feed on the growth and survival of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). This research design used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 1 control. Each treatment was repeated three times so that the number of experiments was 12 units, namely treatment A fish flour 45%, Maggot Flour 35%, Corn flour 16% and Tapioca flour 4%. Treatment B fish flour 50%, Maggot Flour 30%, Corn flour 16% and Tapioca flour 4%. Treatment C fish flour 55%, Maggot Flour 25%, Corn flour 16% and Tapioca flour 4%. Treatment K fish flour 0%, Maggot Flour 80%, Corn flour 16% and Tapioca flour 4%. The research results show average absolute weight growth; although the treatment with the highest weight growth was treatment K, the difference was very small compared to treatment C, which was a substitute for maggot flour with the highest dose. However, if we look at the average absolute length growth, it can be seen that treatment C shows the highest value. Survival in this study is still very high because it is above 96%; however, the FCR in all treatments was still too high because it was above 3. In terms of water quality, such as temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen, all treatments still met the needs of tilapia to live and grow.
