Abstract
The present geodynamics of the Kon Plong, Kon Tum area and its surroundings are characterized by 03 structural blocks and 12 sub-structural blocks, divided by 17 major regional fault systems that have signs of activity at present. The present tectonic stress field in the region is a strike–slip–normal faulting regime with a maximum compression axis of 33904, a minimum compression axis of 065Ð02, and the intermediate axis dips vertically. The stress ratio is 0.51. In the Dak Ha and Mang Den sub-blocks, the stress field tends to shift towards normal or normal–strike–slip faulting with an NW-SE extension axis (219 – 250°) because of the effect of reservoir impoundment.
