Abstract
This paper presents the control of a Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) system with varying operating load conditions by a bilinear version of the Proportional Integral Plus (PIP) control algorithm. The CSTR was remodelled as a bilinear system and its parameters are used in the design of the Bilinear PIP (BPIP) control structure. This is then benchmarked against a conventional PIP designed by linearizing the system at a suitable operating point. Results showed remarkable improvements in tracking accuracy, performance consistency and in control energy requirement.
