Abstract

Previous studies of corporate social responsibility (CSR) at the individual level of analysis (i.e., employee perspective) indicated that social identity theory is one of the possible mechanisms to explain the relationship between CSR perceptions and employee behaviors. Based on social identity theory, the current conceptual paper introduces employee engagement as a useful mechanism, through which the association between employee perceptions of CSR and employee behaviors could be explained. This paper sheds light on the role that employee organizational engagement (OE) play in the relationship between CSR perceptions and employee organizational citizenship behaviors.
