Abstract

With the growing reliance on computerized systems and increasing rapidity of the introduction of new technologies, user acceptance of technology continues to be an important issue.  The technology acceptance model (TAM) proposes that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness predict applications usage. Although e-learning has grown in prevalence and popularity in many Asian countries, in India, it is still in its growth phase.  This study has aligned its focus on the behavioural intention to use e-learning by university students in India, particularly Kolkata. The study revealed that the results are consistent with the relationships between variables postulated by Davis (1989). Additionally, this study highlights a positive and a strong relationship between self-efficacy and the behavioural intention to use and incorporate e-learning.
