Abstract

In this research, we investigated the relationship between distributive justice and employees' commitment to supervisor in Rivers State of Nigeria. Ninety-nine (99) out of 103 employees of selected hospitals responded to the questionnaire and 13 copies of the questionnaire were voided because of incomplete response. The spearman rank correlation coefficient was used for data analysis. This study found a positive and significant relationship between distributive justice and employees' commitment to supervisor. We found that employees tend to easily identify with supervisors than internalize their supervisor's values. We concluded that, fairness of outcome is an effective way of boosting employees' commitment to supervisor in Nigeria. We observed that, pseudo-commitment could exist in organizations were distributive injustice is present. Hence, we recommended that employees' benefits should be distributed in a way that incorporates the principles of equity, equality and need.
